"Here's the bird that I chased several mornings on the last week of the season. Finally got him to come in to check out my decoy spread and calls with the yew box....... He weighed in at 20lbs with a 9" beard and 1 1/4" hooks. Watched him strut, gobble and drum less than 10 yards in front of me "what a sight" before lowering the boom on him." - Paul Graham using a Gobblers End yew wood box call

Dan Leep took this fine MI Eastern gobbler using a Gobblers End Box call. Dan said it took almost an hour to call this bird in, it weighed 21 pounds and had a 9" beard.

Ed's mature Washington State Merriam's tom,
taken early in the spring season.

"The SC youth turkey hunt opened yesterday 3/27/10. Brian Hart took his 12 yr old son Caleb out along the Enoree River near Woodruff, SC for an early morning hunt. They setup their decoys in a small food plot and had not sat down long before a couple gobblers just off the roost began to sound off. A few calls with the yew box is all it took to bring these guys in to the decoy spread. Caleb lowered the boom on a mature Tom sporting a 10" beard and 1" spurs. What a way to start off the 2010 South Carolina turkey season!" - Ed

"I called this guy in about 5:00 PM with one of my scratchbox calls and one of my wingbones. Worked him for almost an hour before he presented a shot." - Ed

Another 2007 bird for Ed. "This was the last weekend of our spring season. I used a homemade bamboo/Osage longbow to make a good 13 yard shot on this young Merriams tom. As always a string tracker was used but in this case not needed. Of course I used a Gobblers End call."

Here is Ed McNett and his first 2007 turkey, a young Merriams tom. Ed killed this bird at 12 yards with his Adcock recurve bow and a Magnus broadhead. Ed used a string tracker device to assist in recovering this bird. Of course he was using a Gobblers End call.... Congratulations Ed1

Ed's first bird of 2007. "This guy sounded off a couple hundred yards away down the mountain, then I called few times. Nothing but silence for about 25 minutes. When he gobbled again he was about 20 yards away. Like to scared the liver out of me. Next thing I know he's right in front of the blind. These birds have the greatest direction/distance finders I've ever seen. Shot him at about 12 yards with a "put-together" recurve pulling 47#, a fiberglass arrow and Magnus broadhead. Would have never found him if I had not been using the string tracker. He went a LONG way through the pucker brush and used about 2/3's of the 1/4 mile of string. Then I had to tote him 350 yards back up the mountain. Tough work for an old guy :>) "

Taken in the spring of 2006 by John Conaway in PA using a Gobblers End call. 20 yard shot with his DAS Kinetic recurve bow.

I got one of Ed's box calls last winter. I didn't know how to use it, so Ed advised rubbing the top part across the top of the box until my dog howled. Trusting him completely, I followed Ed's advice, and turkey season eventually arrived. Leaving the dog home, my brother and I set up a tent blind on a ridge one drizzly morning, and were working in a tom that had hung up at 60 yards to drive off a pesky jake. Suddenly gobbling erupted from the opposite direction. We turned to see three big black birds ripping towards us like a pack of velociraptors. The first two topped the ridge and on the count of 3 (well, 2-1/2 actually), we fired simultaneously and twin toms met "Gobbler's End", while the third flew away to gobble another day. Ed's fine box call worked the trick for me on my first turkey! And, my dog still loves me. - Dan Leep/2005

I set out a decoy then made some "hen talk" (a few clucks & purrs) then put the call aside and set back to drink some coffee. When I looked out the jake was about 60 or 70 yards out and running right at my decoy. All I had to do was pick up the scattergun and wait for him to come on in. Took him at about 20 yards. - Mike "Wabi" Cooper, West Union, OH - 2005

2005 spring hunt. My wife Becca and myself ... of course with "Gobblers End" turkey calls!

Here I am with my 2004 Washington spring turkey. I used my wingbone call in combination with my poplar box call to bring in this young tom. This bird was killed at 12 yards, equipment used was my 47# Kota longbow, aluminum arrows and a Magnus broadhead. I also used a String Tracker device, without which I would not have recovered this bird.

Here is Ed McNett and his Washington spring turkey. Ed braved rain, wind and cold to take this young tom. This bird was called with a Gobblers End wingbone call.
